Spring/Summer 2009 RTW: Marc Jacobs and MBMJ

Any misgivings I had about Marc Jacobs due to his Fall/Winter 2008 show have vanished after seeing his Spring/Summer collections over the past few days.  In his signature line, Marc mixed and matched tons of different prints and fabrics, and the influence of a variety of American eras was evident — lots of 90s plaid, gingham, and bustled skirts.

In his Marc by Marc Jacobs show, I fell in LOVE with the shoes, especially the sandle/shoe lace-up hybrids.  Like the Marc Jacobs line, the Spring/Summer MBMJ collection also placed an emphasis on the waist through the use of layered belts and, strangely, multiple fanny packs — isn’t one of those things at a time enough?  The paper-bagged shorts, however, stood out as something I must have come next spring.  For some fun backstage and detail shots of the show, check out the cobrasnake.
