Spring/Summer 2009 RTW: Daughters, Boys, and a Band of Outsiders

Fashion Week in New York just kicked off and I’m already really excited about the shows I’ve seen so far.  Two lines that have really complemented each other are Boy by Band of Outsiders and Daughters by Obedient Sons — the tailoring in both collections is beautiful and they each made great menswear-inspired pieces that would look great on any woman.

Instead of a traditional runway show, Band of Outsiders decided to use Kirsten Dunst as the model in a video installation that played while guests perused the clothing.  I don’t want to come off as a hater, but maybe Dunst should quit her day job (I’m not even sure what that is lately) and just stick to posing/dressing cute — it’s working for her.  Anyway, I want every jacket in the collection, and I love the black dress with the buttons twisting down the front.  Click here to view the whole line.

My favorite aspect of Daughters by Obedient Sons is the way they created visually interesting pieces through the use of sleek silhouettes along with a mostly neutral color palette.
