“Woody Allen should be glad they didn’t have him bending over in opaque tights.”

Another day, another lawsuit against American Apparel.  Reuters is reporting that Woody Allen is suing the company for using his image on their billboards and others ads without his permission.  According to the lawsuit, “Allen does not engage in the commercial endorsement of products or services in the United States.”  I have never seen any of these Woody Allen ads in real life, but it was a pretty bold move on American Apparel’s part to go ahead and use stills from Annie Hall with no consent; couldn’t they just keep using their other Hasidic Jewish advertisements?    He’s asking for damages in excess of $10 million – think of all the Deep V’s that could buy!

P.S. The title + photo were found in the comments of Oh No They Didn’t – it’s sentences like those that  make me appreciate that site.

  1. Are you kidding me? $10 million! Bevakasha! I’m guessing he doesn’t know what American Apparel can do for his sexual life; two words- young women and with Allen’s reputation, I’m guessing those two words are heaven sent.

  2. And he doesn’t get that this ad was totally a satire. We all have the right to parody celebs according to the constitution…and Larry Flynt.
