Hey, Ombre

Angelina Jolie’s Hermes dress may be vintage, but it’s also incorporating an currently rising trend: ombre. Until recently, there was no “ombre” category of clothing for me–it was either tie-die or it wasn’t.  I am proud to report, though, that I’ve learned much more about the ombre process, which involves dip-dyeing garments in such a way that the colors change gradually.  Ombre is basically the sophisticated city cousin of the more laid-back tie-die.  It has been popping up all over the runway lately, from Alberta Ferretti to Alexander McQueen, and I think it’s a creative-looking way to add color to a spring wardrobe.  Below are some ombre options that I’ve found for our budget-conscious readers:

1.  Pleated Ombre Top, Forever 21  ($27.50)

2.  Ombre Bubble Dress, White House Black Market ($158)

3.  Dip Dyed Skirt, Express ($69.50)
