While Scanning the street style blog Face Hunter I saw he was at the Ukrainian Fashion Week, which immediately peaked my interests. What started as a quick scan through their website ended with a quick scan of every designer from more than just FW09. Definitely check it out.

This weekend marked the beginning of wedding season (for me at least) with a trip a few hours into the interior of Florida for the first in a long string of weddings. Most of the invitations I have received (so far) are from friends and family completely unconnected to one another, so I thought I could buy one perfect dress to wear to all the weddings. As i dragged myself from one dreary dress department to another I realized that while one dress would work wonders at an art museum it would fall flat in a garden.

What to do? Surf the closet for some repeat wears (and get one new dress just to feel better about the headache I received from the bad lighting at the local mall).

Watching loads of drunk guests bust a move on the dance floor I finally began to realize how little thought people put into their wedding day ensambles. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s supposed to be all about the bride but I can only assume that same bride doesn’t want to see a family friend in the dress she wore to her great aunts 80th birthday in photos for years to come.

Banquette halls are notoriously cold so you may end up looking like this model from the Jill Stuart runway in an over-sizedtux jacket (yes, chic at the moment), or you can get smart with a sweet matching cardi like the one Anna is showing off.

I love each of these girl’s hair for a wedding too. Nothing too fussy, leave that to the bride and her attendants.

Hair There and Everywhere

It reached the 80′s in Florida today. Endless Skies, Soft breeze, the weather couldn’t get any more perfect. I’m feeling uplifted and free and ready for a new do’. While contemplating easygoing beachy waves I ran across a backstage photo from Anna Sui SS09 and once again realized nothing is as easy as it seems. Unless you are one of the lucky few, looking just finished surfing cool may takes hours, and that completely defeats the purpose.

At Rag and Bone not only did the hair look air dried and undone I also spied one girl with roots. She had blonde that looked like it was sun bleached with lemons or Sun-In, similar to the way I looked in 6th grade (center part and bob included). Sounds messy but it not only looks cute it’s wallet friendly! The boy on the other hand looks very well maintained and highly styled. I might be partial, but I prefer a primped man to look more classic.

First let me start with this; has life really been so busy the I have not been able to write a new post in over 2 months? Probably not. Have I thought it has been too busy? Yes. Am I back for good? I hope so. But on to more important things.

Recently, while sticking with a budget for the first time maybe ever, I have been on the prowl for essentials. Trendy, but nothing that will be “not exactly perfect” in 2 months. Next on my list is the blazer. But what to do? Basic black? Embellished? Oversized? Shoulder pads? Cropped?!!! Just reviewing the options tires me out. What do the fall runways say about this dilemma? Do whatever you want, more or less.

I’m not saying I love all the options above (maybe it’s the big hair that accompanies the Vivienne Westwood but I can’t handle the color, shape, or the fact that it was way too big in an unflattering way). What I do love is the belted blazer that Sasha P is rockin’ for Loewe.

Clémence Poesy for Black Book Magazine

Clémence Poesy is one of my favorite people of the moment. Anyone who is connected to Harry Potter automatically earns a free pass from me (see also: Robert Pattison), but she was wonderful in In Bruges as well. In addition to her films, I’m always a fan of the magazine spreads she’s featured in. For the December ’08 edition of Black Book magazine, Clémence dons couture items from Chanel, Valentino, Gaultier, and Christian Lacroix.

Hello from Brooklyn! I’m settling into my new apartment and have finally found a chance to write about my latest sartorial concern: all-weather footwear. All of this snow and slush is becoming a serious hazard to my chilly toes, not to mention the fact that traction also becomes a problem in this weather. While I love my blunt bangs, I do not love bangs so long that they wiggle with every blink. They get caught in your mascara, stick you in the eyes, and overall look better in a picture than in real life. But now my appreciation for these lid dusters has changed ever since I got the worst eyebrow waxing possible (never trust someone new, you may loose half a brow. And with no apology they don’t deserve a tip). So for now I say let these bangs blind me! I can’t wait for my brows to fill in…

Rainn Wilson for The Gap

Have Yourself a Hippie Little Christmas

Barney’s debuted their holiday season window display Tuesday, and this year’s theme is “Peace & Love: Have a Hippie Holiday.” The windows were styled by Simon Doonan and are supposed to reflect the peace sign’s 50th anniversary. Display windows at big department stores are meant to attract customers and sales, so it’s ironic that Barney’s would choose a theme related to a counterculture that disdained materialism. The choice of hippie windows is also interesting in light of the economic recession, when people probably won’t be parting with their money for extravagances as much as usual.

Fun fact: Barney’s recruited Volkswagen and artist John-Paul Philippe to create a one-of-a-kind Beetle that reflects the spirit of the 60s. After making the rounds in the displays, the car will go up for a raffle — customers can buy tickets either in store or online for a chance to win the Beetle, with proceeds going towards the Carbon Fund.
