Hair today… just like high school?

I had every color in the book between the ages of 14 and 18… fuchsia, purple, blue, blue-black, purple-black, oh how this list goes on.

I think I want it again! I love the pastels and deep, deep hues that are replacing brown and blonde these days!

Up next for me? Zooey’s purple-black hair.  I’m OBSESSED right now.

Clémence Poesy for Black Book Magazine

Clémence Poesy is one of my favorite people of the moment.  Anyone who is connected to Harry Potter automatically earns a free pass from me (see also: Robert Pattison), but she was wonderful in In Bruges as well.  In addition to her films, I’m always a fan of the magazine spreads she’s featured in.  For the December ’08 edition of Black Book magazine, Clémence dons couture items from Chanel, Valentino, Gaultier, and Christian Lacroix.

REALLY, Nylon?

There is never going to be a turning point for me when Paris Hilton becomes so awful and such a parody of herself it will become funny and cool to like her. NO. Total downgrade for a magazine I used to love.

Clemence Poesy for Vogue Italia, October 2008

To continue the French theme of our posts lately, below are scans from the latest issue of Vogue Italia featuring Chloe campaigner Clemence Poesy.  Shot by Max Vadukul, Poesy is definitely bringing the cute in this editorial.  I especially like the styling and hair/makeup — the dark lipstick is getting me really excited for fall!

Lily Cole for Playboy France, October 2008

We all know that America fails in many, many ways.  Well, if you needed one more reason to add to the list, let me point you in the direction of the French Playboy, whose cover girl this month is the lovely Lily Cole.

Sure, it’s kind of child-porny, but it is certainly better than any modern American playboy cover I’ve seen.  And I think that if you are going to go for that pedophilia vibe, Lily and her doll like features are probably the best bet.  The cover and editorial were shot by  Xevi Muntané.

V Magazine Cover Girls, September 2008

How many covers does one magazine need for an issue? In V Magazine’s case, the answer is fourteen for their September issue.  Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadi, the covers highlight the different ways that women can be supermodel gorgeous.  My favorites include the cover of Anja Rubik (above) and Lara Stone.  The photos are also a nice mix of established models (Naomi Campbell) and the up and coming (Abbey Lee Kershaw). Keep reading below to view them all. Also, be on the lookout for posts on London Fashion Week!

“Flights of Fancy” – US Vogue September 2008

It’s almost September, a month when all the fashion magazines try to stuff as many advertisements in their pages as possible.  If you can actually make your way through the filler in the US Vogue, though, you will be pleasantly surprised by this spread, which features Caroline Tretini and the boys who star in the Broadway version of Billy Elliot.  Vogue is pretty big on having Caroline jump around in her editorials, so I guess it makes sense to have her as the focus of this ballerina/motion-inspired shoot.  All of the dresses are lovely, especially the Marchesa piece with the ostrich feathers.  And how cute are those little kids in their little dancing shoes?

Lil’ Karl, Perhaps?

Oh, Karl Lagerfeld – always giving me pause whenever I read about him.  This photo is from the latest edition of Harper’s Bazaar that features some fashion famous in “fantasy” poses.  Apparently, Karl loves the rap music and fantasizes about being the next Lil Wayne. Proof of his thugness? Totally wearing Phat Farm jeans. I love it! Look for the magazine to also include Georgio Armani posing as Fred Astaire and Michael Kors as James Stewart in Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window.

Sasha Pivovarova and Dhani Harrison for Fashion Rocks 2008

Sasha is officially My Favorite Model.  She’s been delivering great editorials in every magazine I’ve seen her in lately (check out this shoot on Fashionista’s site — incredible!).  Below are scans from the 2008 edition of Fashion Rocks, where she joins baby Beatle Dhani Harrison in a shoot by Steven Meisel.  Why can’t my life be a little like this spread?  I’d love to lounge by the pool and play in a field decked out in luxe bohemian outfits with a guy who has an admirable mustache.

There’s also another less awesome, but still interesting spread in Fashion Rocks featuring Jessica Stam and my fangirl crush Mark Ronson – click here to check it out.

Natasha Poly and Pharrell for Vogue Russia, August 2008

I’ve wondered before about why the evolutionary process involved us keeping eyebrows, but now I think that it was to prevent our faces from looking completely insane.  I know, I know — Natasha’s eyebrows are just really blonde and therefore barely visible, but the look still freaks me out!  Apart from that distraction, I like the lace top she’s wearing in one of the photos, all of which were shot by Terry Richardson. And Pharrell is looking dapper as always, so that’s a plus too. But those eyebrows…I’m just not a fan.  Scans courtesy of the fashion spot.
